1. Participation in the League
1.1. Eligible to play
All players who believe they have good enough ping to play and are not serving any bans from Finnish league activity from the past... Note, however, that the league's "headquarters" remain in Finland, so a "normal" ping will be judged on grounds of that. If you're equipped with a decent Internet connection in Finland/Sweden/Estonia/Westernmost Russia, you should be always able to play without any problems. If you have better than decent connection, you can join from even further away from Finland
1.2. Forum accounts
Every player who applies to play in N&E HaxBall League must create a forum account on our league forum haxball.proboards.com.
1.3. Sign-up for the league
Players can sign-up for the league as free agents. This will take place in specific sign-up topic on the forum.
1.4. Captaincy
Everyone with the ability and willingness to communicate respectfully in English with other captains & players is eligible for captaincy. Express your interest in captaincy in the thread "OFFICIAL player registration for N&E HaxBall League Season 1". League admins will make the final decision on who the captains are based on their qualifications. Captains will be decided on Sunday 1 September.
1.5. Selection of team
Each captain is allowed to recruit 3 or 4 players to his/her team. A player is signed up for a team when there is an announcement by the captain in the thread Team registration for season 1 followed by a confirmation by the player. A list of the free agents will be updated on the first message in that thread.
1.6. Size of the team
A team has to consist of 4 or 5 players.
1.7. Transfers
Transfer window of the N&E HaxBall League is open until the first half of the season has been played.
A new player needs to be added to the line-up at least 1 hour before a match if a team wants to make use of him in that match. If that does not happen, the player is not eligible to play on that matchday.
All player additions must be confirmed in the forum by the added player himself. Without a players confirmation, he is not allowed to play for the relevant team and he won't be added to the roster.
2. League Proceedings
2.1. Matchdays
Sunday and Thursday at 22 EET (21 CET), as we are aware that many of the prospective players joining this league also participate in the Your-Esports Bundesliga. We don't want HaxBall to take every one of your precious evenings in the week (Thursday and not Wednesday because of UCL – we know there are lots of you football fans out there too)
2.2. Game settings
Playing format: 3on3
Stadium: Big
Playing time: 2x5 min
2.3. League positioning
If two or more teams have same amount of points, the standings will be determined as follows:
2.4. Postponing matches
To postpone a match, a team captain must use a wildcard on forum thread "Schedule for season 1" latest on 1 hour before the kick off of the match. Amount of wildcards per season is - 7 -. To speed things up, the wildcard is valid only if posted along with a realistic suggestion for the new match time.
If a wildcard is used in the forum later than 1 hour before match, the postponement is not effective and the team has to play at the regular match time. If the team appears with less than 3 players or does not appear at all, the opposing team gets a 3-0 Defwin. However, the opposing team is allowed to accept the postponement even though it has not been posted within the deadline.
2.5. Playoffs
After the regular season, the 8 best teams will qualify for the playoffs. Pairings for the quarterfinal matches will be formed as follows: Four highest ranked teams (1st-4th) after regular season will get to choose their opponents from teams that finished on places 5th-8th. The winner of the regular season chooses first and after that runner-up will have three possible opponents among which it selects its opponent. Next the team who finished 3rd will have only two possible opponents left. Finally, the team which finished 4th in regular season will face a team that is left after three rounds of selection.
Playoff matches will be played as best of 3 series. Every match is played as two halves of 5 minutes with change of sides between halves. Each match will have its own matchday so it will take at least two separate matchday to play quarterfinals.
The pairings for the semifinals will be formed based on rankings in the regular season standings.
In the first semifinal match the highest ranked team advancing to semifinals will play against the lowest ranked team. In the second semifinal match the second highest ranked team will face the second lowest ranked team. The two winners of the semifinal matches will play in final matches.
3. Match Proceedings
3.1. Players
All players have to appear to a match in time.
If a team is not ready to play with 3 players within 15 minutes, the match is being judged as a 0-3 Defloss.
If a team is making use of players who are not eligible to play, the match is being judged as a 0-3 Defloss.
3.2. Substitutions
Teams are allowed to substitute players after a goal or at half-time or any time during the
match if one or more players have technical difficulties. Please remember fair-play. There is no
limit to substitutions.
3.3. Result and REC-files
After playing both halves, the sum of each half’s score counts as the final result. Every team is obliged to support the transmission of the result in the forum of N&E HaxBall League. For this the REC-function of Haxball should be used and only the outcoming .hbr-file(s) count(s) as an evidence for the result.
At least one player of each team has to record the whole of the match. The recording has to be deactivated after the end of the match but before leaving the room and is necessarily to be saved as a *.hbr file. This file needs to be uploaded to www.haxballtube.com.
The outcoming link of the recording on haxballtube and the final result has to be posted in the section "Match results" in the league forum.
Only a complete REC-file ensures a transmission of the result by the staff team. If a REC-file or an important part of the required match media is missing, the match will be counted as 0-3 Defloss for both teams, no matter if both teams confirm the result. A rematch is not allowed.
NOTE: League admins reserve the right to specify/modify the rules. Rule changes apply immediately.
